VIDEO: United Utilities are working hard to restore water supplies following a burst pipe which has affected thousands of homes and businesses across Warrington today (Friday).
An estimated 7,000 customers in the WA1,WA2,WA4,WA5 areas of the town have been affected by water loss and United Utilities say engineers will be working through the night to rectify the problem which was first reported at around 10am Friday morning.
A United Utilities spokesperson said: “Earlier today a third party damaged one of our large water pipes on River Road, off Wilderspool Causeway (A49).
“This has affected around 7,000 customers around Warrington town centre. We are currently working hard to bring water in from other areas and you may also see our water on wheels tankers pumping additional water into the local water network. This will get your water flowing again until the repair on the burst pipe has been carried out.”
“Our team of engineers have arrived onsite on Wilderspool Causeway and are working hard to restore all supplies to the area.
“We currently have our Water on Wheels tankers pumping water in the main which has helped bring water back to most of our customers impacted. We have also moved water from other areas and are making it our top priority to restore supplies to those who are still affected.
“The repairs to the burst water main will begin as soon as it is safe to do so and will be ongoing through the night.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing you and thank you for your ongoing patience.”
