The Most Common Medical Procedures That People Travel to Thailand For

Thailand is known for its beautiful and serene beaches, stunning scenery, friendly local culture, and spectacular cuisine, but there is also another reason that tourists find themselves flocking to the country, and that’s the variety of medical procedures.

Medical tourism, as it’s called, has been on the increase since the early 2000s, and for good reason. Thailand is known for offering high-tech and high-end procedures at private medical clinics. The cost of treatments is quite low in comparison to other countries such as the UK, and you’ve got the added incentive of a holiday in a beautiful destination. As far as what procedures people are having done, the list is quite vast. Here, we’ll take a look at the most common medical procedures people head to Thailand for.

Dental Implants

Any time you look at getting dental work done, you can expect a hefty bill, which is exactly why people consider Thailand treatment centres as a viable option. Take, for example, the Vejthani Hospital which performs dental implants in Thailand. Rather than having to go back over a span of a few weeks to have the procedure completed, here at the Vejthani Hospital, the whole thing can be done in mere hours.

The clinic specialises in state-of-the-art technology, which means you’ll be getting the absolute best care available.

Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery is big business in Thailand, with the main reason being the cost. Medical tourists can expect to save a small fortune on a variety of cosmetic procedures, plus you have the privacy of going about your procedure, away from prying eyes. It’s common for patients to combine their procedure with a stay in Thailand, allowing them to recover in solitude. By the time they return home, they will be looking and feeling great once again.

Some of the most common procedures that are done in Thailand include a breast lift or augmentation, a tummy tuck, liposuction, and facelifts.

Again, tourists also have to option of booking into a private clinic, many of which feel more like a high-end spa rather than a medical clinic or hospital.

Laser Treatment

Laser treatment is another one that is big business in Thailand. The treatments are aimed at giving patients a renewed, refreshed, and rejuvenated look through the use of lasers. Thailand is even more likely to see celebrities for these types of procedures, thanks to the fact it’s such a private environment.

Medical Spas

While not exactly a medical procedure, medical spas are also very popular in Thailand. Visitors will be able to check out various spas that aim to relax the individual and help them to feel more balanced and one with their body.

The Thailand Experience Includes Pampering and High Tech Procedures

Medical tourism in Thailand continues to rise thanks to the fact that patients feel pampered and well-cared for. They know their procedures are kept private and the technology being used is cutting-edge, combined with the fact it’s much cheaper than home.

  1. I have been receiving dental treatments in Thailand for 17 years and can vouch that the services in Thailand are as good as anywhere in the world and usually half (or less) of the cost of Australian dental.
The start-up tourism association, Asia Pacific Tourism Organization, APACTO, will soon showcase the best of the dental and medical tourism in Thailand in the international Asia Pacific Tourism Awards.
The Apac Tourism awards will be the most trusted source of the better travel choices.
