Parents to take on Three Peaks Challenge for school

A TEAM of 13 parents from Stockton Heath Primary School will head for Scotland on July 6 – to start an attempt on the Three Peaks Challenge
At 7.30am the following day they begin their ascent of Ben Nevis – and the clock will be ticking away the 24 hours they have to climb all three peaks.
The other two, of course, are Scafell Pike and Snowdon – and the total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft).
Training began in February with a cold walk at Trentabank Reservoir near Macclesfield, and come June they will be walking Snowdon twice on the same day to complete the main training.
By the time they start the challenge, they will have walked Snowdon six times.
Spokesman Paul Jackson said: “We are doing this to raise money for Stockton Heath Primary PTA.
“We have an annual fund raising target, however we are doing this walk to raise extra funds to develop the outside area at the school for the children. The playground needs developing desperately and we have one focus as a team to raise as much money as possible. Out initial target is £3000.
“What makes this a special walk is that all of the parents involved have day jobs, children and commitments. We are giving up our time to give something to the school. Such an amazing group of people. “
