Have a say on town’s culture – past, present and future

AN online consultation has been launched asking residents to have a say on Warrington’s cultural offer – from arts venues to digital technology.

Warrington’s Cultural Commission is asking local people to share their views on the importance of culture in Warrington’s regeneration and on engaging young people in cultural activities.

All responses will feed into the work of the Cultural Commission, set up to build on the work already carried out as part of last year’s unsuccessful City of Culture bid, and the feedback received.

Made up of key individuals from arts, culture, business and the third sector, the commission is leading an open debate, focusing on cultural provision in Warrington and future opportunities to strengthen the borough’s cultural offer.

Commission chairman Adrian Friedli said: “We are working hard to develop a new cultural vision for Warrington, and we want to hear what local people have to say.
“This consultation gives people the opportunity to let us know what arts and culture opportunities they would like to see. I’d urge local people to get involved and have their say – the responses we receive will aid us in our work to build a great cultural future for everyone who lives, works and visits here.”

People can take part in the online consultation by visiting the council’s website, www.warrington.gov.uk and typing “cultural consultation” into the search box; by downloading, completing and returning the questionnaire; or by emailing [email protected].

The survey is also available by writing to Warrington Borough Council at Strategic Partnerships and Commissioning, Families and Wellbeing, Ground Floor, New Town House, Warrington WA1 2NH.

The consultation closes on Friday April 6. The results will be available at on the council’s website.

  1. HA HA April fool’s day come early! Public consultation, held over Easter holidays and only a short time to respond. “we want to hear what local people have to say.” yeah, right!
Coming so soon after the disgraceful demolition of the Italian water tower – this really is a SICK joke!
