PLANNING chiefs have given the all-clear for improvement to an access track to an airstrip on open land near Croft, Warrington.
The Lancashire Aero Club airstrip at Kenyon Hall Farm is on land within the borough of Wigan – and already has planning consent from Wigan Borough Council – subject to improvements to the access.
But the access off Winwick Lane, Croft, is within Warrington.
Croft Parish Council objected to the access proposals on the grounds the access was close to a blind bend at Sandy Brow Lane and very close to the busy Kenyon Hall Farm. They claimed the proposals would add more traffic to a road already extremely busy.
They also wished to see existing hedgerows and trees preserved
But Warrington planning officers pointed out the improved access could not be achieved without removal of substantial parts of the hedgerow.
They recommended the scheme be approved, subject to replacement hedgerows being planted further back from the road.
