Council seeks feedback on Burtonwood road improvements

WARRINGTON Borough Council is seeking feedback on proposals to improve the junction of Burtonwood Road and Kingswood Road, in Burtonwood.

The junction experiences congestion during peak times and requires capacity improvements to improve journey times, reduce queuing and accommodate traffic growth as the Omega and Lingley Mere sites develop.

The proposed improvements include widening of Burtonwood Road (southbound) and improved walking and cycling facilities. Construction is expected to start in spring 2018 in parallel with the final phases of the M62 junction 8 works and finish in summer 2018.

The council will be holding public exhibitions to explain the proposals at Kingswood Community Centre from 4pm until 8pm on Friday, October 6 and from 10am until 1pm on Saturday, October 7. There will also be an exhibition at Burtonwood Library from 3pm until 7pm on Thursday, October 12.

A list of frequently asked questions can be viewed on the council website and comments on the proposals can be provided using the online feedback form. The consultation period runs until November 5.
