Motorway crashes cause heavy traffic in Warrington

TWO crashes on the M62 and M6 involving multiple lane closures near Warrington resulted in heavy traffic congestions across the town at rush hour today.

The first road traffic collision took place on the M62 at around 4.45pm involving three vehicles which resulted in two lane closures on the M62
eastbound carriageway between junction 11, Birchwood and junction 12, Eccles.

It had a knock on effect to traffic in and around the surrounding area in the area.

Shortley later there was a three-vehicle collision on the M6 resulting in two lane closures on the southbound carriageway between junction 21a,
Croft and junction 21, Woolston.

Traffic is still heavy on both motorways with the M6 not expected to clear until around 20.30 and the M62 19.15.

Both collisions resulted in traffic congestion on roads in the Warrington area.
