WARRINGTON Borough Council is in the running for a number of prestigious building excellence gongs.

The council’s building control team has several projects going forward to the North West Building Excellence Awards 2017.

Run by Local Authority Building Control (LABC) – the body which represents all local authority building control teams in England and Wales – the awards recognise technical innovation, sustainability and high performance.

This year’s event is being held at Lancashire County Cricket Ground, Trafford, on 19 May. Over 600 professionals will be hoping to go home with a prestigious award, in a variety of categories. Everything, from new schools to kitchen extensions, can be nominated.

Warrington has finalists in a number of categories – volume house builder; best new dwelling; best educational building; best commercial building and best extension to a domestic property.

The council’s executive board member for environment, Cllr Judith Guthrie, said: “This event is a firm favourite in the calendar of the construction industry and I’m delighted developments in Warrington are in the running for awards.

“It gives us the opportunity to showcase, at a regional level, the excellent work that goes on in our borough.”

Building control work up for awards includes the Church Street housing development in Howley, educational buildings UTC Warrington and Barrow Hall Primary School and the new Hut Group commercial building in Burtonwood.

The council has also nominated Countryside Homes – who work with the building control team for all their work across the North West – as ‘best partner with a local authority’.

Warrington Building Control has a team of surveyors who are customer focused and available to help with any building project you are considering.

They can provide free pre-submission advice and offer other services such as Fire Risk Assessments for any building type, for any enquiries regarding their services, please email [email protected].
