POLICE are warning motorists of continuing delays on the M6 following a fire involving a double decker bus earlier today.

The motorway was fully closed this morning while fire crews tackled the blaze between junctions 16 and 17.

The southbound carriageway has now reopened but police were warning of traffic delays of up to 90 minutes, with tailbacks to junction 19 at Knutsford. Motorists planning to travel south are advised to find alternate routes.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said everyone has been accounted for and there are no casualties.
