SNOW could be heading to Warrington later in the week, with forecasters predicting wintery showers to arrive on Wednesday and into Thursday.
The Met Office has forecast that rain will sweep across the region from the northwest tomorrow, with some heavy outbreaks and strong winds. It’ll become colder behind the rain, with sunny spells and wintry showers later in the week.
The outlook for Tuesday will be breezy, with outbreaks of rain. It’ll turn colder on Wednesday, with the possibility of wintry showers and strong winds, and similar for Thursday.
The last snowfall in Warrington was a similar time last January, with a sprinkling on January 17.
Prior to that it was December 27, 2014 when Warrington Town’s home against New Mills was snowed off.
The last major snow fall was on January 18 2013 when snow brought traffic to a standstill and resulted in 12 schools closing in the town.
The wintery showers forecast for later in the week are unlikely to be significant although long range forecasters are predicting more colder weather in January and into February.
