Firefighters rescue horse from sinking sand at Orford

FIREFIGHTERS have rescued a horse after it became stuck in sinking sand in a ditch at Orford, Warrington, this afternoon.

One fire engine from Warrington and the animal rescue unit with supporting fire engine from Knutsford attended the incident on Alder Lane where a horse became stuck in a ditch in sinking sand.

Firefighters and the Service animal rescue team were able to keep the horse calm as they used specialist equipment to get the animal back on to dry land.

  1. Aww well don’t to the fire brigade. I hope the horse is ok and has recovered from it’s scare.
    Have to say though I can’t think of anywhere along Alder Lane where there might be sinking sand and ditches and I often drive down there or was it off Alder Lane somewhere near the new Jubillee Centre on the old Orford Park ground? Either way glad it’s ok 😀
