Teenage girl stabbed in stomach in town centre bar

POLICE are appealing for information after a teenage girl was stabbed in the stomach in the toilets of a late night bar in Warrrington town centre during the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 20-year-old old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident which took place at around 2.50am in the Level Bar In Rylands Street, Warrington.

Officers attended the scene to find an 18-year-old girl with a puncture wound to her lower abdomen. She was taken to Warrington Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

The investigation is continuing and police are appealing for anyone who was in the bar at the time of the incident and seen anything significant to come forward.

DC Ian Bingley said: “The incident took place in the women’s toilet and I am appealing for anyone who was in the bar around the time of the incident and has seen anything significant, which could assist with our enquiries, to come forward. We have already spoken to a number of people who were at the scene but there may be others who we have not yet traced and I would urge them to come forward.”

A 20-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the incident – she has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
