As Warrington’s Muslims join millions across the globe in Eid celebrations, marking the end of Ramadan, the Mayor of Warrington asks that those who are hungry all around the world be remembered.
Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting from dawn to dusk ends today (Wednesday). It is a difficult time for Muslims, coping with fasting during the long summer days. Eid brings families and friends together to celebrate the end of the fasting.
Cllr Rashid said: “Eid al-Fitr is a hugely significant religious holiday. It is an end to a time of hardship through fasting and therefore a time for us to remember those for whom the hardship doesn’t end.
“I would like to wish all Muslims in Warrington and around the world a happy Eid. Let’s also use this day to think how we can be more charitable in our lives.
“Fasting for the past 29 days has been difficult but you can achieve anything when you have discipline and a clear mind.”
