POLICE are investigating a serious road traffic collision outside Warrington Town Football Club after a car crashed through a perimeter wall.
The North West Air Ambulance and emergency services rushed to the scene following a collision between an Audi and a Mercedes on a sharp bend outside the club’s main gates.
The Audi crashed in to the club’s car park wall, causing substantial damage. Eye witnesses and emergency services were able to release the unconscious driver, believed to be a 41-year-old local woman, who was taken by ambulance to Warrington Hospital. Her condition is unknown.
The male driver of the Mercedes car was uninjured and able to drive away.
The air ambulance was not required.
One eye witness said: “A split second later and there could have been even more serious injuries as youngsters were just leaving across the car park after using the club’s all weather pitches.”
Warrington Town are due to kick off their season next Wednesday with a pre-season friendly against Carlisle United from League Two.

I hope the lady is OK.
I’m not implying for one minute that either the lady or the other driver involved were speeding or not taking care as accidents do happen and we don’t know the facts here but time and time again I see drivers speeding down that road, misjudging the bend or flying out of the adjoining junctions on the bend as if they are the only person on the road. I’m surprised there are not more accidents there.
