Mayor welcomes Warrington’s first New Year babies

THE Mayor  and Mayoress of Warrington welcomed three new arrivals into the world, born at Warrington Hospital on New Year’s Day.

First arrival of 2016 was Lewis who was born at 04.19 pictured with proud dad Paul, Midwife Carys, Chairman Steve McGuirk and Mayor and Mayoress of Warrington Cllr Geoff and Mrs Jean Settle.

Every New Year’s Day the Mayor and Mayoress of Warrington, visit the Maternity Wing at Warrington Hospital and present the first borns of the New Year with a silver spoon with the crest of
Warrington on.

Second arrival of 2016 was Jessica Pitchford, who made her debut at 7.30 and is pictured with mum, Emma and dad, Stephen and their midwife Hayley.

Third new arrival of 2016 was Imogen Rose, who is pictured with her older siblings. She is pictured with big sister Megan holding her, along with brother Reece and sister Freya.
Congratulations to mum, Sarah and dad, Jonathan.

Following the visit Cllr Settle said: “We went to see the first babies of the New Year at Warrington General today and gave each one a silver spoon.

“All three mums and babies were doing fine and hoping to be out and off home later in the day.

“We also called in to the various units to see other mums and babies and a couple in incubators as well as visiting other facilities.

“Thanks to all the families for letting us visit and the midwives and staff for showing us around the facilities.

“It’s been 23 years since our previous visit and things have changed a lot but the memories are still there.

“In February, all being well, our first baby will have a son of his own called Max so we will have to get used to nappies, crying and bouncing babies again soon!”
