Have a say on polling district review

1

RESIDENTS and community groups at Warrington are being asked for their views on possible changes to local polling districts and polling stations.
The borough council is carrying out a review following recent Boundary Commission changes to electoral ward boundaries. The results will establish the polling districts and stations for all future borough elections.
Professor Steven Broomhead, acting returning officer for Warrington, said: “Local democracy matters. We want as many people as possible to exercise their right to vote – and to have a say when it comes to how and where they vote too.
“All the information about the proposed changes to polling district boundaries is set out very clearly on our website. I strongly recommend to all residents to make sure you look carefully at the information and see where your polling district boundary might have changed.
“It’s really important that you let us know before the deadline if you have any concerns about the proposed changes, in order to help us make the right decisions on boundaries.”
Information on how to take part in the consultation is available online at warrington.gov.uk/consultations . Alternatively, paper copies of the survey are available on request from Electoral Services, Town Hall, Sankey Street, Warrington, WA1 1UH.
Representations must be received by no later than Friday, January 8. All representations are required by law to be published, but any names and addresses will be removed before publication.
All representations will be reviewed by the acting returning officer before final recommendations are considered by the council on February 8.
Any alterations to the register of electors will be published on March 1 and all changes will be effective for the elections on May 5.

  1. Why do they run consultations over the xmas/new year weeks when people are busy with other stuff ?
Anyway, I’ve just completed it so I don’t forget over xmas and it was hardly worth the effort. Must be one of the quickest set of questions ever asked and I can’t see the point.
