A YEAR of achievement was celebrated at the second annual general meeting of local independent health and social care champion Healthwatch Warrington.
Members of the public were warmly welcomed and reflected on a year of substantial growth, marked by successful engagement with the local community.
Chairman Eileen Fitzgerald welcomed local people, who particularly appreciated an information marketplace, with a special focus on domiciliary and residential nursing care providers.
The marketplace hosted stalls that offered advice and information about services available in the local area and encouraged people to access these services.
A diverse range of key organisations and services attended the event including WIRED Adult & Young Carers, Warrington Day Centre, Care Call, Warrington Borough Council Safeguarding, Life Time, Bright Futures Care Ltd, Catalyst Choices Community Interest Company  Barchester – Brookfield Care Home, Warrington Health Plus, NHS Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group, Warrington Disability Partnership, Warrington Community Living – Lodge Lane Nursing Home and Bridgewater Home Care.
Helen Speed, director at Healthwatch Warrington, presented an overview of carer’s stories, provided by both Healthwatch Warrington and WIRED Adult & Young Carers Services in Warrington.
This was followed by a presentation delivered by David Osborne (managing director, Catalyst Choices) and Chris Ball (director of operations, Catalyst Choices), exploring the work of the company in Warrington. Jackie Hodgkinson (adult safeguarding manager, Warrington Borough Council) also discussed issues relating to Adult Safeguarding in Warrington.
