Council Chief to be quizzed by village residents

VILLAGERS in Croft will have the opportunity to put any questions and concerns directly to Warrington Council’s Chief Executive Professor Steven  Broomhead, who has agreed to attend the next meeting of the Parish Council.

Professor Broomhead, who has previously lived in the village, has been invited to attend by Borough and Parish Councillor Chris Vobe and his colleagues, following a series of issues raised by local
residents.

chris_vobe.jpgCouncillor Vobe is now issuing an open invitation to residents in the village to come along to this special meeting and put their questions to the Council’s most senior officer.

Cllr Vobe (pictured right) said: “Next week, on Tuesday October 20, the Chief Executive of Warrington Borough Council will be attending Croft Parish Council to discuss any issues that residents would like to raise. We were keen to invite Professor Broomhead to come to the village and hear from residents directly. Many of the issues raised by local people at Parish Council meetings also require involvement from the Borough Council. In my role as a councillor on both bodies, I have been delighted to take up many of those concerns and facilitate a positive outcome.

“But this gives Croft residents an opportunity for even more direct engagement. Professor Broomhead is keen to hear the views of people here. You might want to learn more about the pressures the Council is under with its budget, or you might want to suggest smarter and more efficient ways that we could spend our limited money on local services. Alternatively, there might be something in the village which you think deserves the Council’s attention.

“Whatever the issue, this is your opportunity to put your points to the most senior officer in Warrington Borough Council. After the Q&A is over, you are of course very welcome to stay for the rest of the Parish Council meeting to hear more about the work we are doing locally on behalf of the village.”
