Batteries on fire in garage

TWO fire engines were called to a blaze involving batteries in the garage of a private house near Warrington.
Crews from Stockton Heath and Altrincham were involved in the operation at a house in Surridge, High Legh.
The fire was actually out by the time they reached the scene but crews isolated the gas and electricity supplies to the house and checked for fire spread, monitoring temperatures in the property.
Smoke detectors were fitted in the house and did activate, providing an early warning of the outbreak.
Crews carried out a home safety assessment and were at the scene for around 90 minutes.
In another incident, two fire engines were sent to a house in Thelwall New Road, Grappenhall were a fire broke out involving an unattended pan in the kitchen.
Again, the fire was out by the time they reached the scene.
Earlier, crews from Warrington and Stockton Heath dealt with a three-vehicle crash in Mersey Street, Warrington.
Crews assisted paramedics in removing a casualty from one vehicle before they were taken to hospital by ambulance.
