MORE than 200 people flocked to Warrington’s Bewsey Community Park Centre to mark Children’s Day.
The day, which was organised by the newly established Polonia Bewsey and Dallam group, with support from Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT), brought fun for the whole family.
There was an array of activities including bouncy castles, face painters, games and fun activities, and was supported by partners from Warrington Borough Council (WBC), LiveWire, The Children’s Society and St Rocco’s Hospice.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue also proved a popular hit with their fire engine while Warrington Wolves mascot, Wolfie made a surprise appearance.
Mira Kasprzyk, who helped establish the group and organise the day, said: “We are delighted that so many children and families from all over Warrington came to enjoy our Children’s Day celebrations.
“Polonia Bewsey and Dallam will be delivering more activities throughout the year for the whole community to come together and enjoy.”
The event aimed to bring together local families from the whole community within Bewsey and Dallam to create a sense of lasting community harmony between families of any culture and background, and to introduce the community’s newly formed Polish community group.
Polonia Bewsey and Dallam are committed to helping develop friendships and  understanding between the different communities in Warrington, and Children’s Day is just one of the ways they are aiming to achieve this.
“Over the next year the group are planning more events and activities such as exercise classes, cookery session where the community can sample Polish food, and developing language classes to improve their standards of English.
They will also be looking to improve the health and wellbeing of local residents across the whole area, linking into the wider ‘Delivering Wellbeing in Bewsey and Dallam’ project.
The group meet regularly and have a very active Facebook Group and anybody interested in joining is asked to follow them on Facebook.
