PARISH councillor Matt Smith is to fight the Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft seat on Warrington Borough Council in next year’s municipal elections.
Cllr Smith (pictured), a Labour member of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council, will take on sitting Conservative councillor Les Hoyle, who is also a member of Croft Parish Council.
The election will take place on the same day as the European elections.
Cllr Smith lives in Culcheth with his wife and two daughters.
A former teacher at Culcheth High School, he is also a governor at nearby Twiss Green Primary School.
He said: “I am delighted to officially announce that I will be the Labour Party candidate for Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft in the 2014 elections.
“Labour has already delivered a great deal for our area, and I am committed to giving all three villages an even stronger voice at the Town Hall.
“Each week, I am out and about with my team, knocking on doors and talking to local residents about their priorities. That’s the kind of councillor I will be – one who is visible, accessible and very much part of the community.”
