Planners to rule on new houses

PLANNING bosses at Warrington will meet a second time to consider the fate of a piece of “green land.”
Members of the borough council’s planning committee have visited the site, off Stockdale Drive, Great Sankey since controversial plans for six houses were first placed before them.
They are now expected to reach a decision at their meeting next week.
Nearby residents and borough councillor Keith Gleave have lodged objections.
They are concerned about the loss of green space, increased traffic and parking problems and increased pressure on local services such as schools.
They believe the site is too small to accommodate the six houses proposed.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved, however.
They point out that originally the plan was for seven houses and that the site is overgrown and unmanaged, with no public access.
Perimeter fencing makes the site inaccessible and it has insignificant value as an amenity space.
