Rooney's knock-out blow on car park

SOCCER star Wayne Rooney arrived at a Warrington based boxing club – complete with TV crew and an army of security men.
The trouble was the Manchester United and England striker was accompanied by a convoy of sound and lighting trucks, two mobile catering units, a converted double-deck bus, an ambulance and numerous cars.
They invaded the Old Road pay-and-display car park at Warrington, preventing regular users from parking.
A spokesperson for Warrington Borough Council said: “The TV company did contact us in advance and asked for permission to park four cars.
“As it is a pay-and-display car park, we could hardly refuse. But then they turned up with all these other vehicles.
“People who have paid for 12-month passes to use the car park had to find somewhere else because all the spaces were taken.
“We sent someone down to talk to the TV company but they could not get passed the security men.
“We are deciding what action to take, although we have been assured they will only be there for one day.
“Any pass-holders who could not park should get in touch with the council.”
Rooney was taking part in a Samsung TV commercial, believed to be part of their World Cup advertising campaign.
Boxing club owner Derek Groarke said he had been approached by the TV company a couple of months ago seeking permission to view his gym, close to Warrington town centre.
“Apparently they had viewed a number of boxing clubs in the Manchester area which were not deemed suitable,” he said.
“I’ve no idea what will be happening in the commercial but it is clearly going to have a boxing theme and they like the fact that it is a traditional old fashioned boxing club.”
The commercial also features two members of Liverpool’s famous Smith boxing family – brothers Paul, Stephen, Liam and Callum.

Pictures show Rooney arriving for the filming session at the Bridgefoot Amateur Boxing Club – and the packed car park.

  1. I reckon that this is just a rooooose and that Gary has signed Wayne for Town next season following the World Cup. The Rock God was unavailable for comment when his PA was approached yesterday apparently he was on the phone to Brazil arranging accomodation.

Surely they had the right to enter the car park, if they were physically prevented then the Police should have been caught. Its about time that so-called celebrities and their hangers-on were made to realise they are subject to the same laws as everyone else.

Please tell me that, at the very least, they were ticketed for any parking violations.
