POLICE at Warrington today appealed for witnesses after an 11-year-old girl was knocked down in a hit and run accident
Luckily the girl only suffered minor injuries but police are appealing for witnesses to trace the driver of the car involved.
It happened yesterday (Wednesday) at about 8.15am on Lingley Green Avenue, Great Sankey at the roundabout at the entrance into Lingley Mere Business Park.
A car stopped to let the girl cross the road and as she walked out towards the central reservation, a black small to medium sized car overtook the first vehicle and collided with the pedestrian who was struck by the bonnet of the car.
The driver, described simply as a white man, did not stop at the scene and police are appealing for him to come forward.
They would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.
The girl suffered cuts and bruising to her legs and arms.
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
