Inappropriate buildings approved

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have approved a retrospective application for two timber buildings and two portacabins – despite accepting they are “inappropriate” in the Green Belt.
The buildings are already in use at Walton Lea Nursery – the charity which provides employment, training and life chances to adults with learning and other difficulties, off Chester Road, Walton.
Planning officers said the buildings amounted to inappropriate development in the Green Belt.
But they would not have a significant adverse impact on the openness of the Green Belt, taking into account the siting of the structures and the well established boundary treatment.
In addition, the use was one with distinct advantages from a community and educational point of view so there were special circumstances which outweighed the inappropriate nature of the development.
There were no objections to the scheme – and local borough councillor Paul Kennedy said he fully supported the application.
