Mayor opens real ale festival

THE Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Peter Carey opened the first annual Read Ale Festival at Cinnamon Brown Farm Club – and toasted the occasion with a glass of Headmaster, from the Old School Brewery of Lancashire.
He said: “It’s really good to be back in Cinnamon Brow and see that the club is doing so well.
“The members have created a great event with a wide variety of real ales on tap. I wish the club well this weekend.”
The club is also the home of Radio Warrington, the online radio station currently striving to get is own FM licence.
Presenter Steve Lewis invited the Mayor to visit the studio and take part in an impromptu live interview.
Cllr Carey talked about his two charities of the year, Multiple Sclerosis (Warrington) and Playability (Warrington) and wished Radio Warrington success with its application for an FM licence.
Cllr Geoff Settle, who is lives locally and is Cinnamon Brow’s parish councillor congratulated the club on putting on a great event.
He said: “I have seen a number of new features taking place at the club during the last 12 months, for example the construction of new brick beer patio at the front of the club and the new Sunday jamming sessions in the non-members bar.
“You do not need to be a member nor do you have to join in and sing along – you can simply listen and tap your feet.”
The festival features 17 real ales and two ciders from around the country.
There were food stalls, a barbeque, live music, karaoke, comedy sow and traditional pub games.

  1. Thanks for publishing this Gary the weekend went off very well. As evertone who organises any event knows a great deal of hard work went into the planning and execution of the 1st Annual Beer Festival and those who took part should be congratulated.
