WHEN the annual Disability Awareness Day gets under way tomorrow (Sunday) it will be supported by a range of Warrington Borough Council services.
The day – affectionately known as DAD – will as usual be in Walton Hall Gardens and is the world’s largest voluntary-led disability exhibition.
There will be exhibitors, equipment suppliers, transport, holiday and leisure providers, employment services and support groups in the purpose-built tented village.
Borough council services present will include the Family Information Service, Inclusion team, Fostering and Adoption, Contact Warrington, Sensory Centre, Trading Standards, Recycling and Adult Social Care.
They will be providing advice, information and interactive activities.
The event will also feature an extensive array of entertainment, including Pimp my Scooter, featuring mobility aids in the form of a US Army Jeep and a Harley Davidson and performances from Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists Urban Gypsies and Carly Ryan and Martin Finn from the BBC’s Autistic Superstars.
The show begins at 10am and finishes at 5pm. Entry is free and also includes a free programme.
