HUNDREDS of people turned out to see the Rugby League World Cup trophy when it visited Warrington.
The trophy visited LiveWire leisure centres and libraries, Birchwood shopping centre and the Padgate campus of Chester University.
People at each venue took part in a free raffle to win two tickets to the Samoa v New Zealand game at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on October 27.
Highlight of the visit was a celebration of Samoan Independence Day.
The party continued into the evening at a Samoan beach party at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub.
The centre was decorated in Samoan colours and families
enjoyed a disco in the pool, beach volleyball and the chance to meet Samoan representative Faa’vae Gagamoe.
Warrington has gained national recognition for being ahead of the pack with RLWC celebrations and for the support the town has shown to Samoa – the team it will be hosting.
Chairman of the local RLWC2013 committee Jan Souness said: “I’m delighted we have been recognised nationally for being the town leading the way for other host towns and cities.
“The trophy tour and Samoan Independence Day was brilliant and we hope everyone continues to show their support to Samoa and comes to a match when they touch down in October.”
To celebrate the arrival of the Rugby League World Cup LiveWire is giving members a discount on the England vs Exiles tickets.
