MORE than 80 members of the deaf community turned out to the launch of the new Equipment Aids Room.
The event, which took place at Warrington Deaf Centre, Wilson Patten Street, attracted many regular deaf club members, as well as numerous new faces.
Guests had the first opportunity to try out the extensive range of state of the art equipment available to those who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a sight loss. A number of the product suppliers were on hand to provide advice and to carry out demonstrations.
This is the first facility in Warrington solely focused on hearing and sight loss equipment, services and support. The equipment is the most up to date available and feedback from existing service users is extremely positive.
Dave Taylor, telecare and sensory team manager said: “The turnout was fantastic and our clients were thrilled to have the opportunity to try out the valuable equipment first hand.”
Cllr Pat Wright, executive board member for health, wellbeing and adult services, said:” I am delighted that so many people went to this event as it shows how valuable the service and the equipment on offer are and we hope the room will continue to be used for many years to come”.
The Equipment Aids Room is the result of partnership working between the council, Warrington Deaf Centre and the deaf community in the town.
