A PLAN to create a new, gated access to farmland at Glazebury has been given the go-ahead by planning chiefs – despite an objection from Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council.
The gateway will be from Fowley Common Lane, and will allow access through the garden of a detached house to a field at the rear.
Parish councillors objected on the grounds the lane is too narrow and already suffers from on-street parking. They fear an additional access will make existing highway problem worse.
But planning officers say some vehicle activity already takes place at the location, traffic speeds are expected to be low and the access point itself benefits from permitted development rights and does not need planning permission.
A neighbour has commented that he has no objections, provided no new buildings are proposed at a later date.
