Drugs warning

WARRINGTON’S Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is warning of the dangerous side effects of ecstasy and urging people to be extra vigilant if they have taken the drug.
Immediate or short-terms effects of taking ecstasy include an increased heart rate, raised blood pressure and dehydration.
However, the drug also interferes with the body’s fluid control mechanisms and salt balance, and it’s easy to drink too much fluid and over hydrate, causing the brain to swell dangerously.
Large doses of the drug can cause anxiety, panic and confusion, and many people feel some degree of depression if the drug wears off.
If any person shows any of these signs or symptoms it’s essential to dial 999 and ask for immediate medical assistance.
Anyone concerned about their own or someone else’s drug use, should contact CRI Warrington on 01925 415176
