Snow stops play at Town

WARRINGTON Town’s home game against Salford City scheduled for tomorrow (Jan 19) has been postponed due to the heavy snowfall and a frozen pitch.

Due to the recent heavy snowfall, the Evo-Stik NPL allowed clubs to cancel fixtures the day before scheduled games, an unusual move but one that has been done for obvious reasons.
The pitch (pictured above) is currently under 4 inches of snow and is frozen underneath.
Shaun Reid will be hoping to see his side back in action next Saturday as they are set to travel to Ossett Albion in the Evo-Stik NPL First Division North.
Meanwhile the club’s 3G pitches have also been closed due to heavy snowfall.
Groundstaff tried to clear the facility on Friday morning to ensure bookings went ahead but have been beaten by the weather.
With more snow forecast over the weekend, the club will review the situation on Sunday afternoon ahead of further bookings on Sunday evening and on Monday.
The Saturday Soccer Session for children has also been postponed.
