A new team is at the helm at St Rocco’s Hospice – often referred to as Warrington’s “favourite charity”.
Pam Massey joins the team as the new Chief Executive Officer, while Alison White, is the new Clinical Lead (Matron).
Pam joins St Rocco’s with a wealth of experience with a background spanning 30 years of nursing, having worked as a District Nurse, Macmillan nurse in the community and then moving into commissioning palliative care services at Central Cheshire PCT.
In 2007, Pam moved to Jersey where she worked as CEO at Family Nursing and Home Care -a charity delivering core integrated community services including district nursing, health visiting, school nursing and home care services.
Pam said: “St Rocco’s has a long standing, excellent record of providing a much needed service to the people of Warrington. The dedication and commitment of the staff and volunteers is evident throughout the organisation. My varied and enjoyable career has, I feel, given me the experience to lead and develop St Rocco’s to meet the needs of patients and their families now and in the future”
Meanwhile St Rocco’s new Clinical Lead Alison White did her initial nurse training in London University College Hospital in 1980 and later trained as a midwife before becoming a specialist community public health nurse. She has been a Senior Nursing Lecturer at University and has completed MSc in Health and Social Care. She is passionate about education and is about to undertake a Post Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care. Prior to working at St Rocco’s, Alison worked in end of life care at an independent charity and at a Sue Ryder Hospice in Cheltenham.
She said: “I am passionate about delivering the very best care to our patients. End of Life care is all about patients and families having choices and dignity- so many people don’t have the opportunity for that. I believe everyone has the right to the very best of care at the end of their life and I want all our nurses to develop the training and skills to continue to deliver that. Our patients deserve nothing less”.
