Third place under threat

WARRINGTON Wizards’ player-coach Paul Alcock believes his side could drop out of the top three in Conference Three if they do not get back to winning ways.
The Wizards have lost their last three matches against Huddersfield Underbank Rangers, Bramley Buffaloes and Hemel Stags respectively. In each of these games the Wizards have conceded 40 points.
It is a trend Alcock wants to prevent going into the play offs.
He said: “We really do need to get back to winning ways this week if we are to remain on target for a top three finish.
“We have obviously been disappointed to have lost our last three games but we have to put that to the back of our minds now and look forward.”
The Wizards face Bristol Sonics Wilderspool Stadium on Saturday, August 18 with a 4.15pm kick off. Sonics have recently hit form defeating Nottingham, Bramley, Hemel and South Wales after 11 consecutive defeats.
Alcock is determined the team from the south-west will not make it five straight wins, but understands his team will have to overcome their demons and get over their injury crisis.
He said: “Bristol have shown over the past month that they have really turned the corner and they will no doubt provide us with a stern test.
“We have clearly been disrupted in recent weeks through a catalogue of injuries but that cannot be used as an excuse as we still have enough quality in our squad.
“A win against Bristol will put us back on the right track and we will be doing all we can in training to be fully prepared and ready to go.”
Wizards will be without Dan Stubbs, Mike Stout and James Rosson on Saturday, although they hope to welcome back Dan Crampton, Danny Gregory, Graham Healey, Craig Middlemore, Martyn Bradshaw, Mike Rosson and John Brotherton.
Admission to Wilderspool Stadium to see the Wizards take on Bristol Sonics is £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
The game will take place after Warrington Wolves under 18s face their London Broncos counterparts.
