WARRINGTON Town FC have announced that following a meeting between members of the board and the players, first team Coach Rick Ward will be looking after team affairs for Saturday’s visit to Bamber Bridge.
Rick (pictured right) will be supported by senior members of the team including club captain Mike Tomlinson and David Ness.
The club has been inundated with large number of high calibre applications for the vacant managerial position following the departure of Joey Dunn and Stu Humphreys and are hopeful of making an announcement in the near future.
In a club statement Chief Executive Richard Sutton said: “It is always difficult for players, club officials and fans when a manager leaves a club due to the fact that for a short period, there is an apparent void in the structure of a club. We can assure everybody that we will be conducting the due process in a professional manner and hope to announce the new manager in due course.”
“We would ask all supporters of the club to get behind the team for Saturday’s game.”
The club can confirm that River Humphreys and Mike Duffy have both decided to leave the club with immediate effect and wish them well in the future.
Allan Collins had already been approached by Blue Square North Colwyn Bay and left with the club’s good wishes.
