WARRINGTON Disability Partnership hosted an “interactive hub” at an International Day of Persons with Disabilities event at Regent’s Place in London.
Employees who visited the hub discovered how it felt to have a variety of different disabilities within the working environment.
Nearly 200 people attended the event, hosted by Lend Lease, to raise awareness of disability in the workplace.
Eleven-times Paralympic champion and vice chairman of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games for the Athletes Village, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, provided a humorous and earnest insight into how she became one of the most successful disabled athletes in the UK.
Dave Connor, assistant operations manager at Warrington Disability Partnership said: “The event was a huge success. It was great to be involved with a forward thinking company like Lend lease where everyone was extremely interested in the work that WDP were doing and the partnerships we had built up with Golden Square in Warrington town centre”
Mark Dickinson, head of the Diversity Council said: “I truly believe that with the help of the charities and Tanni’s inspirational talk, we’ve changed people’s attitudes towards people with a disability and demonstrated how the working environment can have an impact on their lives”
