Benefits bus coming to help

PEOPLE struggling in the current recession will be pleased to hear that the popular benefits bus is back in Warrington next week.
It will be open and parked outside Warrington Market from 10am to 3pm on Monday October 24, and then from Wednesday October 26 to Friday 28.
Help and advice will be on offer to local residents on claiming housing and council tax benefit.
The mobile service is accessible to everyone and no appointment is necessary. The advice centre has disabled access and is fully equipped with systems to allow immediate benefit estimates to be made.
Organisers say even those who have never claimed before should check entitlement, especially if their circumstances have changed or they are on low incomes or out of work.
Cllr Terry O’Neill, leader of Warrington Borough Council, said: “We are committed to helping our residents during these difficult economic times and the benefits bus is one way we are doing that.
“Even if you have never claimed benefits before, it is worthwhile finding out what you are entitled to, so why not pay the benefits bus a visit?”
The benefits bus has been travelling across the region for four years and is proving very successful. On its last visit in August customers who applied for help collectively qualified for benefits of more than £45,000 with one customer from Lymm receiving £6,000.
