Five complete marathon

1

FIVE members of Lymm Runners represented the village in the Chester Marathon.
The five – Lee Hughes, Richard Smith, Helen Johnson, Vic Begent and Janet Stanhope – finished the marathon in times ranging from three hours 34 minutes to four hours 50 minutes.
Lymm Runners captain Chris Lees said: “Everyone has been training hard for this race, using the club sessions and other local races such as the Warrington Half Marathon as a warm-up.
“The conditions were ideal for distance running and all should be very pleased with themselves, especially Helen, Richard and Janet for completing their first full marathon distance.”
Lymm Runners is the village’s only running club and meets outside the library every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm and on Sundays at 8am.
In the 18 months since the club was set up it has become UKA affiliated and is part of the North West Cross Country League. Members have taken part in everything from 5ks to triathlons to ultra-marathons.

  1. Congratulations to everyone who ran, I remember running my first in the 1st London back in 1981 at the age of 29 in 2:42.09 and it was a great feeling mind you I did stop and had two glasses of bucks fizz near the 20 mile mark – I wish the club and members every success – and remeber approximately 7 years after you start competeing running you will post your peresonal best – I got down to 2:42 in the Liverpool Marathon ( mind you I became obsessed with running) – so keep training and supporting each other and you will do well and enjoy running.
