A WARRINGTON MP is backing a campaign to get a better deal for working parents.
Warrington North MP Helen Jones (pictured) is supporting USDAW’s campaign aimed at ensuring low income families are eligible for benefits and tax credits at an adequate level, and the safeguarding of child benefit.
The union is holding a parents and carers Spotlight Day on March 23, aimed at helping the public understand the changes to tax and benefits and how they will affect families.
The MP said the changes include freezing Child Benefit for three years, abolishing of the Child Trust Fund and the Health in Pregnancy Grant and reduction in the aid of childcare costs provided by Working Tax Credits.
She said: “I am fully supportive of USDAW’s campaign to safeguard child benefit and tax credits for working families in a time of Government austerity.”
She is encouraging workers to visit www.usdaw.org.uk to see how they can get involved in raising awareness within their work place.

  1. family friendly working conditions are crippling businesses. They are not helping business to emerge from the recession inheirated from the previous labour Government.

All of us have to tighten our belts why should working families be exempt.
