Lymm in relegation dog fight

LYMM Rugby Union succumbed to their sixth defeat in seven games and their fifth on the trot at rain drenched Waterloo.
Lymm now find themselves in a relegation battle and unless they can turn things around quickly this season, that started so well, may turn sour.
In truth Lymm looked a class apart in the first 10 minutes. Two penalties from Emmitt had given them 6-0 lead. Poor tackling gave Waterloo’s winger the first of his hat trick on 15 but then Joe Knowles superbly finished off a back row move with Pickles and Kinsey making it 13-5 after 22 minutes.
Pickles was sin binned on 26 and Waterloo immediately made the man advantage count scoring on 27. Pickles came back on but when Ashall saw yellow on 39 there was no surprise when Waterloo took the lead on the stroke of half time. 13-17 at half time.
Even introducing talismatic captain Oakes and the impressive Tom Bray couldn’t energize the visitors and 2 further tries from the hosts gave Waterloo the win and, crucially, a bonus point.
Coach Kinsey was anxious saying: “For the first 20 minutes the smiles were back on our faces and the game plan was back on track. However nothing but 100% intensity is enough in relegation dog fights. This is territory we are not familiar with and it demands some urgency.”
Returning captain Oakes, missed over the last three games, reflected on the current form sauing: “There is much to work on as we seem to have taken a backwards step from before Xmas.We realize now how strong this league is and how we need to mature as a team.”
Director of Rugby Richard Boundy refused to panic saying: “We have now created a situation where we have to start winning. The current run is bad but lets remember due to the weather we have only had 2 home games in the last 8 so we have every opportunity to turn the corner.”
Lymm host bottom club Rochdale this Saturday with a hope to a return to winning ways.
