Lymm lose three in a row

LYMM Rugby Union succumbed to their third straight away defeat against Chester as a lack of match fitness and intensity gifted a bonus point win to the promotion hopefuls.
With only Alex Bennett unavailable Lymm had all their key players at their disposal. The five week break, enforced by the weather, had at least allowed some of the players to remedy niggling injuries. Coach Kinsey was hopeful of pushing Chester to the limit and was delighted with an opening 10 minutes of almost total dominance. By the time Chester had taken the lead on 11 mins Lymm had had the chance to score twice. Better support for Adam Fletcher would surely have resulted in a try on 4 mins.
Mistakes were costly as the home side ran in a further five tries by 50 mins. Rarely did they need to build phases as Lymm dropped off tackles or showed naivety in defence. Missed clearance kicks, charge downs and poor handling all contributed to a nightmare afternoon for the visitors.
Consolation tries from Ollie Higginson and Scott Harrison in the last 10 mins suggested a losing bonus point was a possibility but Lymm had no complaint at the outcome.
Coach Kinsey was philosophical. “ Six weeks off was only too evident with our defence proving fragile and our mental toughness uncharacteristically weak. Proof of lessons learned will be needed against next weeks form team.”
Lymm now entertain Bradford & Bingley at Crouchley Lane this Saturday, 2.15 kick off for their first home game in two months!
