Impressive Lymm back up to 3rd

LYMM Rugby Union regained 3rd place in National 3 with an impressive 38-17 win against fellow league newcomers Sandal.
The visitors boasted the best defence in the league and suggested a tighter game than seen in previous home games for Lymm.
Warhorse Bennett returned at 5, alongside Darbyshire, with Williams rested, nursing a sore leg. Coach Kinsey kept faith with the team that had scared league leaders Stockport the fortnight before.
Lymm had much of the possession in the opening 10 minutes. However they only had two missed penalties to show for this dominance. However Lymm boast class in their back three. Knowles took a perfect missed pass from Andy Roberts and raced over after a swift interchange with Rowley to open the scoring at 5-0.
A charge down by Sandal on 15 led to a penalty against Lymm. The visiting 10 slotted it and it was 5-3.
Lymm still maintained the upper hand with possession but it was, again, a piece of outrageous skill, from old timer Kinsey, offloading to Johnstone who found the supporting Rowley to make it 12-3. An Oakes try from 2 inches secured a decent distance between the teams on 30 at 19-3. On 38 another piece of sublime brilliance from Lymm. Ollie Higginson fly hacked from his own 22, outrunning the Sandal backs he had the presence of mind to collect and present the ball to Rowley who scored beneath the posts. Composure, pace and awareness encapsulated in one. At 26-3 at half time Lymm had secured the bonus point and seemed destined for a hatful.
Kinsey and his coaching team made changes. Youngster Luke Emmitt made his debut and Pickles and veteran Sutton were introduced.
A poor Sandal defensive kick was recovered by Knowles, at his imperious best. He found Roberts who released Dave Williamson who found the perfect line, albeit in showboating fashion to make it 33-3.
Sandal never gave up and two scores on 56 and 65 suggested, briefly that a losing point was there for the taking. Lymm are beginning to find the desire to shut teams out and on the stroke of full time Rowley finished off a lovely blind side move to seal his hat trick and 8th try of the season.
Coach Kinsey was elated with the first half performance. “Scoring nearly 40 points against the best defence in the league was evidence of some intense offensive patterns. Providing a platform for 80 minutes to reproduce this is a clear target.”
Man of the match Higginson suggested it was time he won the vote. “I have been carrying the team for the last couple of weeks now and I am glad they have finally acknowledged my efforts.”
Director Of Rugby Boundy was pleased with another good day. “Yet again a high quality game of rugby played with real talent. Anyone wanting to see entertaining, high intensity rugby should get down here. A quick mention to the 3s who have just notched their 11 consecutive win in league and cup. It’s a significant achievement and well done to Paul and the boys.”
Lymm 1s travel to Rossendale on November 20 knowing that a win will put pressure on the top 2, who play each other.
