Police launch monthly surgeries

POLICE and Community Support Officers are inviting people to go along and have their say on policing at two new monthly surgeries.
Officers in Warrington South are launching regular drop-in sessions for those living in the Latchford/Westy area.
One surgery will be held on the first Tuesday of every month from 10.30am to 12.30pm at the old rangers hut in Black Bear Park, Loushers Lane, from tomorrow (December 1).
The second will be held on the first Friday of every month from 10.30am to 12.30pm at St Margaret’s Community Centre, Lindley Avenue, from December 4. This will be run alongside the local councillors’ surgery for the area.
PCSO Tony Spruce said: “This is a great opportunity for residents in the Latchford and Westy areas to come along and meet their local officers and talk to them about any issues or concerns they might have. It is in an informal setting and people can talk to us on a one-to-one basis.
“Some people can find it daunting going along to local community meetings and airing their views. This is why surgeries like these are of real benefit, as they are informal and allow us to speak to people we otherwise might not hear from.”
He urges people to attend the meeting, but says that anyone who cannot can get in touch with the team on 0845 458 6372.

  1. What’s the point of holding these surgeries at a time when the majority of people will be at work?

If they need to be held at all, they should be in the evening or at weekends. Although, in preference to that, the police should have a base within the community they serve so that people can “drop-in” whenever they need to. We used to call them Police Stations.
