Parking restrictions to be challenged

RESTRICTIONS on use of a busy shoppers’ car park are to be challenged.
Members of Stockton Heath Parish Council are unhappy with restrictions on the use of the Church Farm Shopping Precinct car park.
Coun Stephen Taylor complained that signs on the car park say use is restricted to “customers only.”
But when management from the new Aldi visited the parish council some time ago, they had stated that the car park would be for general use.
Coun Sonia Boggan said: “People know they can park there free for an hour and a half and go wherever they want.”
Members heard that the time limit applies to parking between 8.30am and 8pm. Coun Peter Walker suggested it should be amended to two hours.
He said: “A man I know went into the village for an early dinner with his kids. He couldn’t park there at 6pm. So maybe they could extend the time limit to two hours or stop the restriction at 6pm.”
Clerk Peter Briggs said he would follow up the complaints.

  1. I shopped there a couple of weeks ago and parked in the car park….(lazy I know) but I did notice the restriction signs had been changed and they no longer say “Aldi Customers Only” (unless they have changed it back again since) Agree that the time limit needs to be extended to 2 hours etc etc
