RESIDENTS are to be given two opportunities to learn more about the Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Plan.
“Drop in” sessions will be held at Newchurch Parish Hall on Friday, October 30 between 6pm and 8pm and the following day between 10am and 12 noon to give people a chance to have a say on the proposals.
There will be displays and round table discussions to allow residents to give their views – and the results of a competition for young people will be announced.
The parish plan is not the work of the parish council.
It is being put together by a steering group which, while it has parish council representatives on board, is an entirely separate organisation with its own chairman – former local government officer Roger Taylor – and other officers.
It is an initiative of Cheshire Community Action, which has spearheaded similar plans in other villages across the county with considerable success.
In one area, a parish plan resulted in a new £250,000 village hall being built and in another, an initiative to combat youth hooliganism was launched.
If the Culcheth plan proves successful, it could be the first of several across the borough.
