Toxic chemical spill at hospital

FIRE crews were called to Warrington Hospital just after midnight to deal with a toxic chemical spillage.
Three fire engines and a hazardous materials unit spent two hours at the site in the early hours of today (Wednesday) to clear the area and ensure everyone was safe.
They were called when four and a half litres of hydrogen peroxide was spilled in the theatre recovery room.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus cleaned up the liquid, and ensure the area was safe.
A spokesman said: “The material is toxic. It can be nasty if breathed in or it gets in contact with the eyes.”
