Third consecutive defeat for Town

WARRINGTON Town slumped to their third consecutive defeat as they went down 1-0 at former football league outfit Halifax Town.
Town, missing several key players through injury, gave a starting debuts to new signings Jimmy McCarthy from Kidsgrove and Dave Thompson from Runcorn Linnetts, however, this lead to a slightly disjointed performance in the first half of this game.
It was no surprise, when the home side took the lead in the 11th minute, On loan experienced striker, Paul Gedman, capitlising on a mistake to run in on goal and chip the advancing Richie Mottram, to score off the inside of the post. Halifax continued to press forward looking for a second goal, and almost got one, when Phil Hadland was forced
to head clear off the line. Hadland was the first to go close, when his long range effort went narrowly wide of the target.
Halifax almost scored again before half time, when right back Cavell Coo finished into the side netting after a jinking run.
Town came out and produced an improved second half performance in a bid to find an equaliser, but almost fell further behind when Gedman flashed a header across the face of Towns goal.
Towns best chance fell to impressive youngster Danny Toone, whose long range free kick, was too close to keeper Jon Kennedy, soon after debutant Thompson, again, placed his shot too close to Kennedy.
Halifax should have gone further ahead, when midfielder Jonathon Smith finished weakly after an excellent run. Town continued to press forward, looking for an equaliser, but could not engineer a way past Kennedy, in the Halifax goal.
