Warrington Town football club is turning to God to help realise its dream of gaining promotion to the Football League, by enlisting the help of a club chaplain.
Lee Gilbert, student Minister from the Latchford Baptist Church has been appointed in the role to help people at the club when they need someone to talk to.
Leicester City fan Lee said: “The church is right next to Warrington Town and I wanted to offer the service to the club.
“It is just a case of being there for people who are perhaps going through some sort of crisis and need a friendly ear to listen to them.”
He will be attending future matches at the ground as well as training sessions to try and get to know the people involved at the club.
Registered charity SCORE are supporting Lee with this venture as they resource and network sports chaplaincy across the UK.
Since they were established in 1991 SCORE have been involved with providing chaplains for major sporting events such as the rugby world cup, common wealth games and world amateur boxing championships.
