Belper Town 6 Warrington Town 0
WARRINGTON Town’s awful run continued in their latest Uni Bond League Division One South game away at Belper.
They shipped six goals with out reply and are still searching for their first points under new boss Paul Moores.
In the latest clash, Town handed debuts to five new players and started the game well in the opening stages, with captain Carl Rendell firing straight at Adam Ogden in the Belper goal.
It was Rendell involved again for The Wire’s next chance when he combined well with Kev Hannon to force Ogden into a fine stop.
The home side had the next chance and could have taken the lead, but Chris Fitzsimmons was on hand to head off the line and keep the scores level.
That only delayed the inevitable as Belper did take the lead on 26 minutes when midfielder Peter Smith was left unmarked to nod past debut keeper Shane McWeeney.
The pressure was beginning to tell on Town who conceded a second soon after when veteran striker Richard Treacey was able to head home unchallenged.
Belper sealed the game on the stroke of half time when Ross Hannah was left with time and space to drive a shot into the far corner.
Andy Potter had Town’s best early chance when he forced a good save out of Ogden, who bravely saved the follow up effort by Matty Elder.
Treacey then hit an unstoppable shot on the turn from the edge of the box to give the home side an unassailable lead.
Soon it was 5-0 when midfielder Andy Rushbury pounced on a mistake in the Town defence to finish past McWeeney at the second attempt.
Town almost pulled one back when Rendell went through on goal, but could only fire his shot at home keeper Ogden.
Hannah went on to make six near the end finishing from a tight angle to send The Wire packing.
It has been the worst possible start for Paul Moores as Town have conceded 15 goals in three games.
