Town appoint new boss

WARRINGTON Town have mutually agreed to part company with first team manager Ian Street following a run of poor form, which has seen the ambitious club slip out of the play off places in the Unibond Division One South.
Recent results have not proved acceptable to both parties and a change of manager was felt to be required.
Ian said: “Recent weeks have been very difficult. We picked up a few injuries and a few players have lost their form which happens to most clubs, I wish the club good luck for the future.
“I am looking to stay in football and any interested clubs are welcome to contact me.”
Meanwhile the club has shown its ambitious intentions by moving quickly to sign Warrington based Paul Moores from Unibond Premier League Leek Town.
Moores has a proven track record, helping LeeK Town avoid relegation against the odds last season following a successful spell at Congleton.
Moores, aged 38, who is a UEFA qualified Coach, is himself ambitious and was eager to take on the opportunity of coaching his home town club.
Members of the club’s Executive Board were delighted to secure the services of a “home grown” Coach.
Club Chairman Dave Hughes said: “We would like to thank Ian for his efforts since taking over last season but it was decided that the club had to move forward.
“In Paul Moores we have secured the services of a manager with a proven track record at a higher level. He is still young and ambitious and is genuinely excited about the prospect of taking over at his home town club.”
Moores, who will be meeting with the players for the first time tonight (Thursday), will take charge for the home game with Carlton Town, this Saturday k.o 3pm when Warrington will be aiming to get their promotion bid back on track.
Commenting on his appointment Moores said: “Living locally I have been fully aware of the ambition being shown by the new board at Warrington Town. While I have enjoyed my time at Leek, who actually play at a higher level I am confident Warrington have the ambition to move forward.
“This is a great challenge and one which really excites me. A town the size of Warrington deserves a successful football club and I am confident, with the right level of support, we can achieve our dreams.”
